THE HOLY CITY - JERUSALEM

The Golden City

The holiest Christian shrine-The Church of the Holy Sepulcher is located in the Old City of Jerusalem.  It is the site of Christ’s crucifixion, burial and resurrection.

Thousands of pilgrims and travelers alike visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and The Tomb of Christ, wanting to feel the anointing stone where Jesus allegedly had his wounds dressed after death.

The Church is home to the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem. Branches of Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy and Roman Catholics, also call the Church of the Holy Sepulcher home.

The Western Wall is the most religious site in the world for the Jewish people. Located in the Old City of Jerusalem, it is the western support wall of the Temple Mount. Thousands of people journey to the wall every year to visit and recite prayers. Prayers are either spoken or written down and placed in the cracks of the wall.

The large open area that faces the Western Wall, functions as an open-air synagogue that can accommodate tens of thousands of worshippers. Prayers take place here on a daily basis and special services are held over the High Holidays.

The Southern Walls & The Davidson Center,  are located near The Western Wall in the Old City. The Davidson Center is one of the Jerusalem’s top tourist attractions due to its historical and archeological significance. Archaeological finds and displays from the First & Second Temple periods-the ancient city wall, the Temple’s staircase, a preserved ancient street, ritual immersion baths and stores.

The intensity of religions, spirituality and faith in Jerusalem is something that needs to be experienced.  It simply can't be described. No matter what your religious beliefs are, the beauty and spirituality of Jerusalem is unbeatable.
